This is a damn good upload! I was on the point of logging off, I'm glad I stayed on for a few minutes more.
V1 is nearly, but crucially not quite symmetrical, plus great use of portrait format - the narrative flows up and down the frame. Then V2 expands the scene sideways, adds a relaxed breadth, off-centre placement which is subtle, suggestive.
Made my day. So I'd better go to bed now.
Moira
Two superb images, Adrian. Excellent colour, use of perspective (esp. V1, but unavoidable in V2 though more subtle).
Probably, just probably, I prefer V2: the grasses in the foreground suggest that the surrounding gear has lain unused recently, though it does partially conceal the rope on the ground while giving more prominence to that slung over the white containers. The sprig of cow parsley almost dominates the scene, too, while the reflection of the blue boat at the jetty is clearer. But it's a damn' close-run think!
Regards
Bill
Mr. and Mrs. woolbill have summarised your shots comprehensively, Adrian, and cannot add anything of value beyond that: whilst the portrait version works well, I do personally prefer the landscape format of V 2. Both shots are very well composed, and it looks a delightful spot for your late evening walk.
Ronnie.
A pair of well composed shots whichever format.
Steve.
Think the experts have already said it all. I'm not too knowledgeable re landscapes, something I sometimes try but rarely post on epz. I do, however, know what I like and for me it just has to be V1 which I think is stunning. V2 is only just a hair's-breadth behind though!!
Ann
Two superb images Adrian - love them both, but V2 just takes it for me !
Chris
Thanks all for your comments/feedback/clicks very much appreciated, and many thanks to Chris for the UA, that's made my day![]()
Adrian
Another two superb shots here Adrian
I prefer the landscape format purely because i hardly ever shoot in portrait format. However I shall have to try it , after seeing yours here![]()
Mike
Excellent images ..
certainly a pier that has seen better days
V2 for a vote today
Yes, wonderful composition, two very nice shots Adrian, love them both,
Johanna
Both options are good. Composition and perspective is great.
Regards, Oleg.
2 splendid shots Adrian. My preference is for v1 as it gives a greater sense of distance down that pier and beyond and I love the extra height and added sky in the portrait format
Helen
Great perspective & I agree with all the above, great work
