Old Soldier's Farewell Visit.

Manila, Philippines. 1961.

US General of The Armies, Douglas MacArthur (right) sits beside Philippine President, Carlos P. Garcia on the first leg of his final visit to old battle sites.
MacArthur was renown as The Liberator of The Philippines. Scheduled to arrive at noon, when the lighting would have been favorable, he arrived at 6 PM,
delayed by being constantly blocked by well-wishers on his way to Escolta,
then the financial district, from the airport. I had a 200 mm lens mounted on my camera, which was loaded with Plux X film because I wanted to make a large blowup to commemorate the occasion. Too slow to record the lighting at dusk, I had to force develop the film to get an image.
