As requested in the forums:

I dont think this is a great shot. It looks like it leans to the left (might just be the barn though). The trees are distracting in the foreground so I would have walked to the right to bring more of the barn into view and placed the barn further to the left (rule of thirds). I might also have got in a bit closer to lose some of the white space at the top. The pic also lacks detail - sort of soft. Otherwise the barn has potential if you can shoot it again.

This could be a strong image, but lacks a little impact as it is. If you adjust the levels a bit (if you have the software to do so) you could bring more depth to the dark tones, and lift the lighter ones (eg where the sun is hitting the snow). I think it might also have benefitted if the barn had been a bit further to the left. If you shot the image in RAW, you might be able to retrieve some detail in the sky, too, as it looks empty at the moment. Hope this helps!
Anne

and when you do upload Josh , perhaps enable the "add modification" button.

If anyone does a suggested change to your picture they should say how they are tyring to help.

Either that or post it in the critique gallery.

Good luck and welcome.

Dave

The others have said most of the things. Black and white is just that, not light grey and dark grey and darker grey. I cant see a black or white in this image.Have a look at the histogram.

Its a bit dark and grey - with a bit of contrast adjustment could be a good shot.
