Hi all, and a massive thank you to all who kindly voted and commented on 'Awakening', it was such an unexpected response, and even more unexpected, was the User Award from Yung, who I have a great deal of admiration and respect for as a Photographer.
And now it's back to the Music, and some of you might remember this guy from a Mono picture that I uploaded of Him from the Broadstairs Folk Festival. Here He is seen playing Fiddle at the Rochester Sweeps Festival on Bank Holiday Monday. V2 is a bit of Bow Waxing going on, and V3 another member of the Troop sitting this one out, while fiddling with Her Penny Whistle type of thing. Well ok, I can't think of the proper name for it, but maybe Bill can help?
Well that's it, we're on the rundown to the Weekend now, hooraaaaaaaaaaay! Smile

All the best to all,

John Smile

I am not much bothered about the proper name for the penny whistle thing John.
I am just a tad curious about where she keeps it when she is not playing it !!
Good set.
Mick.

V1 is brilliant! The composition, with the diagonal splitting the frame, and the focus on the instrument. One of your best ever.
Can I suggest that there's a b&w lurking in this? (Oh good, Mods are enabled!)
V3 - I am suffering from Dress Envy. The lady has style!

Three excellent informal portraits, John. You have captured loads of character in your images of that (rather piratical-looking) fiddler.
I must assure you however that he isn't waxing his bow 'cos that would stop it from getting any sound from the strings. And whatever the lady in V3 is doing with her Penny Whistle*, it ain't fiddling!
Regards
Bill

*Penny Whistle is correct, but they're usually called tin whistles nowadays: offer 1p to your friendly local music shop and they'll demand about £5.74 more before clinching the deal.

Excellent use of selective focus in v1 - and I do like this in the mono modification by Moira.

I do wonder though, what caught your eye in v3 Tongue

I like V3 because it provides a place for the eye to rest. If looking for a favourate it has to be V1. By going in close and croping tightly has produced a very powerful male portrait in this case. The fiddle and bow both add to the viewing experience. No hesitation awarding top marks.

Dave.
