This shot was taken in Mojacar[ Almeria] hotel" El Puntazo." My husband used to go there, to the same place twice a yeer. I took a few images in his memory.

I can't remember who said that "A photograph is about depth of emotion , not depth of fileld"
This has bags of emotion in it, as you have revealed to us.
My sympathy to your loss.

From a technical point ot view, since you have asked for critique, I find that the picture is leaning a bit to the right. I understand that may be caused by the amount ot pressure forcedd on the shutter button, as you hold the camera upright, especially if you hold it with one hand only.
I think you should have taken the picture from a point further to the left, either the centre of the staircase or as your left arm touches the wall of teh building where the steps are. This tiny move to the left would cause the elimination of the flora visible, which is chromatically irrelevant to the rest of the picture. Most importantly though, since flora is a sign of life, in a theoritical concept its absence would echo the loss of life.
