Taken on our recent holiday in Cape Cod, USA. This is a first summer (Feb-Aug) male Orchard Oriole (Icterus spurius) with black throat and lores. Fairly rare and found in scrubby woods and hedgerows with isolated tall trees. Solitary or in small groups, feeding on insects, larvae, fruit and nectar. Adult male a distinctive dark chestnut(incredible difference in colour from the first summer male ), female a greenish yellow.
The background is natural, consisting of distant trees.
Settings: F/5.6 1/500sec ISO125 manual@500mm tripod
