OSPREYS ON NEST . . . One from a recent shoot at Hendersons Fish Camp at Lake Placid, Florida. The first of a series I am working on entitled "The Real Florida". Most people who do not live here think of Florida of a series of coastal beaches, which of course it is. But as one travels inland it is an entirely different Florida. Lakes, forests, wetlands and flatlands comprise the inland areas. Cattle ranches, orange groves and nurseries are leading businesses. So, although I will undoubtedly sprinkle in glorious beaches and fabulous sunsets I will make a real effort to capture the Florida that is mostly unseen by those who visit here.

On the recent trip to Lake Placid I saw many nests of Osprey, some with chicks. There are not just alligators there but bear, panther, wild hogs, fox, squirrel and a multitude of avians.

So thanks for looking, I hope you enjoy the following images as much as I enjoyed taking them.

Thanks and God bless,
Patti

Panthers? OMG you better be careful. I'm always listening for bear or cougars when I'm walking in the bush. I've seen the droppings from them but never actually bumped into one thank goodness. This is a great image. They sure make a messy nest......Sandy

GREAT image, Patti, other than the purple fringing. I look forward to seeing the rest of your series. Do you read Carl Hiassen?

These young look so healthy and eager. Such a positive attitude. Osprey know how to dive with gusto. So entertaining to watch. Snakes in Florida are beautiful too, so keep them in mind. They never brush their teeth remember. TG
