Saw this one legged Gull in Cape Town last week. Must have been in contact with a big hungry fish
Thanx so much for your V&C's on yesterday's Frangipane upload - to those who asked Yes they do have a glorious fragrance.
Have a wonderful day

Seems to be coping on just the one leg, looks well enough fed.
But what a shame all the same.
Good shot of the casualty, Herman.
Poor little chap. He balances very well but when things happen you have to adapt.
Lovely shot Herman
Well spotted, and managed to get him beautifully sharp, with the depth of field perfect
He should to wear an eye patch and he will be like a one-legged pirate!
It could have happened whilst he was in the nest - the stupid creatures will use fishing line as nesting materials, it gets caught around legs and after a time the limb falls off! It does look healthy enough.
Poor fella, Herma, though I must say he looks well on it Well spotted and captured. Carol
That was taken off cleanly. Well spotted Herman, great shot.
Poor bird. Well, it seems to carry on without that foot. Nicely captured image.
Poor little bird. Well spotted and captured Herman.
Great spot and shot Herman good use of dof.
Pieces of Eight, Pieces of Eight
Poor thing and a big ouch.
No wonder he looks a little sad - but yes he does look in good condition considering. Great shot.
i feel sorry for this poor poor bird with a missing foot, but is its any consolation Hermanus, it would look like its an old injury and its healed very well.
very well spotted herman wonderful detail a belter nice one
Pin sharp shot of the poor bird, Herman. Well spotted and shot.
Poor fellow but they do seem to manage quite well. A fine capture.
ouch indeed ....
same leg as mine ...
Poor bird - but it's good picture.
Well spotted and captured Herman. Good job he can fly and does not have to walk too far
Well timed capture Herman, like it,
Beautiful and great capture indeed, very well done,
A great image, Ronnie - but what a shame!!
He looks well, apart from that!
Probably had to foot the bill. Great pose
Excellent capture Herman. I hope we don't get similar casualties here when over enthousiastic volunteers try to remove birds that are frozen to the ice in the canals!
I have to ask though, I'm trying to learn here: how come you got this depth of field with f.5? Thought it should be a wider aperture...
I'm working on depth of field with not too good results
Thanks for your answers
Very poignant image, yet they seem to manage so well, they have to I suppose! You've captured it so well Herman!
photographed by Herman captured by jaws
Oh.. that's terrible..feel sorry for the bird... excellently captured image.
How sad - well spotted and captured

Great balancing act, and very well captured Herman.
They do adapt so well Herman, great capture my friend! The only thing I hope is I never get fishing line tangled in my Manhood after reading KarenFBs comment.
A survivor-- very well togged!
It's brilliant Herman and a great capture and well spotted, but it did make me laugh.
A born survivor Herman, lucky to be around at all, now tell him to hop it lol. Regards Leon.
Well spotted and a superbly pin sharp image
A bit less exotic than your recent wildlife images but no less well captured. Excellent detail and very well separated from the background, Herman.
Poor chap, God bless him
Very well capture this poor sea gull Hernano, good dof. Nice shot.
aww he's not let it bother him well taken karen
Give him a Crutch and an eye patch...Iwonder if he would have a little Human on his shoulder
He looks like he has learned to come with his missing foot superbly well.
Super image and capture Herman, they often loose a leg in tin cans on rubbish tips.
Well spotted poor thing.
A very apt title! Nice capture
Although I do feel sorry for him, he looks healthy enough and is coping well.
Yes, ouch! ouch! Still.....well balanced, Herman!
Poor Gull . you have captured him well Herman. I love your banner of Protias your national flower xx
Oh Herman, poor little seagull, well captured, guess he will just have to hop it , Peter
poor sod, he looks like a monument for wounded animals on the plinth!
excellent timing Herman, well spotted.
Poor thing Seems well balanced, though. Hope it doesn't give his upper leg muscles too much stress.
Very well captured, by the way!
Well spotted and captured -very well done......
An excellent capture of this unfortunate seagull Herman, as others have already said he seems to be able to cope quite well!
