This image is taken looking over Balmacara Bay and Loch Alsh towards the Isle Of Skye off the West Coast of Scotland.
Skye boasts the only real Alpine style challenge in the UK, not the hight but the style of climbing - the Cullin Ridge. This boasts 11 Munro's (mountians over 3000ft) in it's length and is used as training for people that are planning to do some of the Alpine ridges in Europe and further afield.
The hills seen here are Beinn an Caillich (732m) and the smaller one is Beinn Bhuidhe (488m). The small town seen on the shore is Caon Acain (Kyleakin) which is the first place you come to after crossing the Skye bridge (toll free now).
If you get the chance Skye is one heck of a place to visit. The mountains are spectacular, the weather is less than predeictable but the landscape is totally inspiring.
I can't wait to go back there.
Rich

Fantastic scenery, well captured - looks like a great place.
I'm going to Skye during the long September weekend, can't wait.

Hi Rich, there at the end of the month, can't wait. Nice shot.

I'll be there in a couple of weeks Rich, I just hope the light is as good as here my friend. Bonnie light indeed, and a fine reflection the water.
I'm counting the days, my family are coming from Canada and California and I have a bloody great people carrier hired for the Grand Tour.
All the very best
Dougie
