Very clever idea I don’t usually like mixing B&W & colour in pic's but really does work well! One very minor observation is that on this & the gate shot previously I think the fine detail maybe just a little over sharpened?

Yes I've started using photoshop and i find it a little odd, but working on it, what the hell is high pass? many thans for your comments everyone cheers Ian..
Ian - high pass is a filter that only lets the higher frequency parts of the image show. The high frequency parts of the image are the parts that change from light to dark quickly - that is the fine detail - eg a thin line small leaf on a tree etc. some photographers use a layer with the hp filter applied to accentuate fine detail in an image - the effect is similar to unsharpen mask - hope this helps???

Yes it does thanks, I think I'll stick to crop, a little light and colour.
Its early days for me and edit, I think the term "run before you walk!" Cheers Ian
