I associate barbed wire with pain. Not just the pain of being cut by it, but also the pain of those who are enclosed by it. Obviously there are other uses- such as protecting your propert.
The wire on the drainpipe has a circular pattern which reminded me of the crown of thorns. One made from manufactured materials, one from organic origin. Both associated with pain.
I've used a layer from the Easter image that I uploaded this year, which included a distorted crown, and combined it with the barbed wire. From one crown came life- from the manmade we can still hope.
Four versions and I wonder which works best?
This is the last in this series of images using barbed wire - not exactly a popular series for obvious reasons, but thanks for looking and for comments on the previous barbed wire uploads

Beautiful colours and great creative work. #2 appeals to me the most
Fabulous work Helen - wonderful iridescence in the blue tones. Love them all but marginally V2 as I like the way the image leaps out of its frame at the top, just like an electrical impulse. The concept behind the work is brilliant and very personal.

That's a great bit of fiddling around, Helen! Think each works very well, but if I have to pick a fave, think V3...just!

difficult to choose a favourite here as they are all very good
After much deliberation, I have chosen V2 as my favourite because it's the one that stirred the deepest emotions.
Thanks everyone- I completed v2 and then wondered if the "echoes" were too much outside the blue box- interesting Nicky that you can see a strong visual link with your own migranes - a hard image in many ways
Excellent work! Even a post with barbed wire gets artful in your work,
Johanna
Having just had some surgery yesterday, I can tell you that v2 very plainly says pain to me. I really like v1, but when I opened 2, well, it spoke directly to me.........

Its interesting how many people can identify with this Mavis
Glad you saw this one while you were catching up Rachel - rather thought they were your colours !!
