After two days of gale force winds here I decided to make a return to the meadow, not expecting to find anything, but I was pleasantly surprised. It was teeming with painted lady butterflies, and also small coppers and clouded yellows. More to come, I'm afraid, both butterfly images and gales, the wind has started again today and is forecast to reach Force 6 by tomorrow Sad

Three stunning close ups of this beautiful butterfly, especially the first two versions. The details and colours you've captured are simply glorious.

Three lovely captures of this butterfly, Carol, each of which could comfortably sit in the V 1 slot although my favourite today is V 2.
Ronnie.

The Butterfly conservancy newsletter yesterday states, painted lady butterflies fly at a height of a thousand feet or more, they migrate on very strong high winds for thousands of miles, this has only just come to light with the help of thousands of people all over the world, I might if I get the time do a feature on it tomorrow, three very well captured photo's like all three Carol, regards Leon.GrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrin
