photography is about capturing the light and you have certainly mastered it !
should I get a dawg then? you have some great results found by your trusty pal heheh!
Still can't see the dog, even after a good long sleep![]()
I loved yesterday's shot, full of vibrancy and contrasting light - a great woodland scene I'd loved to have seen.
I can see that you've found a blob of light in the woods which is unsual in a way, but compositionally there's a few things I don't really follow - the large expanse of dark area to the right for instance? Would that be better cropped off? Does the framing tree to the left of the shot work or is it too dark to perform its function? Is there a strong enough focal point to hold the attention? What is the focal point - and could oyu have made more of it with a longer lens, or getting closer? It's good to ask all those kind of questions when taking the shot - keeps you on your toes.
I've had a go at stuff like this in woodlands and it's not straight forward to get a striking or interesting composition when you may only get a second or 2 of light before it disappears, so credit for trying it.

Thanks for your comments Ade. The object of the image is to show a splash of light within a dark area of forest. Hence the dark area on the right, which to me, is an important part of the picture. Cropping it off would leave the light area bang in the centre.
The tree on the left is holding that side in, again to emphasise the darkness around the light. It may not be a winner but I like it.
I appreciate your comments though and it is interesting to hear another viewers impressions
Can I borrow your dog for a weekend please? Interesting comments on this image and clearly some debate around teh compostional strength. For me there is just enough detail and interest rhs to justify it being there - it provides the very important contrast to the splash of light - indeed it is the essence of the shot. I think these dark light contrasts are devlishly difficult (witness my last upload attempt) but this is superbly handled - by someone who is aquiring an uncanny knack for this type of work.
Brilliant work again
Robert
