Morning all. As we passed this building on the water bus, I simply thought it was another lovely building. However, curiosity and all that - I googled it. I discovered that Palazzo Salviati was built in 1924, therefore a relatively new building. Built by a family of glassmakers - Salviati, it is considered to be garish. The glass mosiac was designed by craftsmen, and the building houses exhibition rooms for the famous Murano glassblower family. I certainly do not consider the facade to be garish, and have cropped V2, 3 & 4 to show the sections in more detail. Even sneaked in another reflection in V4 Grin. Thanks for C&Cs onn yesterday's upload.

A beautiful building, Moira, and it blends in so well with the surroundings, despite not being very old. Well captured images, good detail. Carol

Such beautiful architectural detail, I can't imagine it as garish. I especially like v3.

A lovely building well captured Moira. I like the extras - the side canal and bridge, the line of house, and the boats out front, all setting the scene nicely. Excellent capture.

Interesting series.
The buildings along the Grand canal are a dream. You cannot get tired of going up and down on the vaporetto.

I don't ever remember seeing this on my travels around Venice - on any of my visits. It's certainly very ornate, and I don't find it garish it all. Very nicely captured, Moira Wink

I agree with you Moira, that it is not garish.
Unlike Jack and Vera's house in Coronation Street with the stone cladding.
Now that is what I call GARISH !!
Good shots.
Mick.

Lovely images and a very interesting commentary. Having seen quite a lot of Venice's buildings on this trip I guess they consider anything with a decent lick of paint on it garish. Certainly the majority of costumes would hardly be described as subtle or in good taste. What's wrong with garish anyway?

Sorry, was in no condition to offer a comment earlier: a fine set with the full picture of this eye catching building in V 1 and some nice details picked out in the closer inspections.
However, my favourite is V 1 ...... although the building and those in the side canal are in deep shadow, you have exposed the scene admirably and brought back a very fine shot, Moir?
Ronnie.
