This is where my grandmother was born. Also a couple of old pieces of jewelry that were hers. I wonder if Pangbourne is near where any of you live? It may even be called something else now. .

Pangbourne is on the Thames, still!
I remember my father once driving us 60-odd miles there to go fishing, in 1960 maybe. All I caught was sunburn. One of my brothers found a 1 note in the street. Otherwise I have no recollection of the place; we now live at the other end of the country.
Thanks for reviving a memory, Sandy, and presenting it so beautifully.

A lovely composed image Sandy - I have never been to Pangbourne - just passed the sign to it a couple of times - I am in Hampshire - a little bit a way. I am sure your grandma would love what you have done here.

No, Pangbourne's still Pangbourne, Sandy. It's about a couple of hundred miles from where I live, and though I've never been there, it sounds a delightful place. And this is a truly delightful presentation, like it a lot Smile

That would be wonderful Hugh, I have so many pics of this place on postcards, around the late 1800's. Would be so interesting to compare.

As someone so interested in my own family tree, this really hits the mark for nostaligia! What a lovely composition. Sounds as though we may get to see Pangbourne as it is now some day soon, thanks to Huge, which will be interesting.

It looks so lovely, Sandy. I don't know Pangbourne, but I hope it hasn't changed too much from this image - so often it's disappointing to go back to a place even only 20 or 30 years later, to find it so very changed, or even unrecognisable. Sometimes it's best to just have the memories Wink.
Your grandmother would be so pleased that you treasure these mementos.
