Using the micro focus adjustment capability on the 7D to correct for any bias between the lens and body sure has made a big difference. I highly recommend doing this if you've a camera that supports it. I used FoCal software, which can automate the process using the 7D and can semi-automate it on the 5D mark III. I think it's produced pretty sharp results. I can highly recommend it.
