Once again many many thanks for the comments and advice on my upload from yesterday. I have learnt so much which I know will only benefit me. Thankyou for your kindness as you help me along, and just think one day when I am famous it will be because of your help and advice! hee hee!
I'm off to a bug farm with my granddaughter and her class today, so I will have to catch up later. Mmmmm.....Yep of course I'll take my camera along!
This is Paul, he is a body builder and has only been training for 2 years!!! He is the mean guy that trains me a gym. Yes, he is mean...I am hammered by him and by the time he has finished with me, I feel as if my body is disconnected from my head!!! haha
He asked me to take a few shots of him for a competition that he is entering. These were taken at my house, indoors using only the available window light. Converted to mono. AV f5.6, ISO 1000

Great six pack and well done with the light available. Hope he does well in his comp. Trish
actually his face looks so childlike and very unlike a body builder ![]()
commendable lighting Challice. you have done well here.
good one, upperbody muscles could be given a shine? I am no expert in this, but Arnold's and Rambo's pictures always have shiny muscles ...
may be olive oil!!!

Hahaha. He did use oil, but it was his first ever photo shoot and I think he was a bit shy, so most of the oil went onto that left elbow of his...hahaha

At least that lets us out of offering technical suggestions as to how to remove the shine - you can't manipulate a digital photograph with a towel ![]()

(Thinks to herself - Why do I never get anyone like this to pose for me at my house...???)
Note to self - be serious. This is superb, well composed plus very well exposed, not an easy job.
Plus - this is a delightful portrait, as Rad says he has such a sweet, open, boyish face.
Moira
Oh dear, that left elbow did get most of the oil... lol.
A very well captured shot and, as already said, his boyish and open expression makes an interesting contrast to the muscular pose.
Jean
Lean and mean... A beautiful study of male body. He's giving you such a look !
Anne
Quote: Excellent pose Challice, maybe if he looked a bit more serious then the whole mood would change? do you think? Not a crit just a suggestion to experiment with different expressions..
Bernie
Thanks for the suggestion, but they have to smile when they are competing., which is really hard to do when you have to pump up those muscles, so he was only doing what would add points in a comp.
