I did a craft fair today and a customer asked me to do an image of Penshaw Monument for her so this is my interpretation which I am adding to my website. I had a good day there and sold quite a few images - the meerkats were popular once again!
Thanks so much for all your recent comments and your continued support. Have a good weekend!
One of the North East's most prominent landmarks, Penshaw Monument was built in 1844 in honour of the first Earl of Durham, John George Lambton.
Modelled on the Thesion, the Temple of Theseus in Athens, Penshaw stands magnificently above the city on a limestone hill with spectacular views as far afield as Durham Cathedral and the North Pennines.
