If the public knew how badly treated the animals on some of these big farms are, they would stop buying bacon. The CBC did a documentary and stated producing sows were held in tight pens for weeks on end. To be fair, some of these seem to have limited freedom. TG

Hi TG, Yes these particular pigs have a lot of freedom by comparison, they have a very large field to roam around in unrestricted. This is a very positive move away from "the old days" when pigs were confined to buildings for the entire duration of their lives. There are a lot of these open field piggeries near where I live and one thing I have observed is that the animals seem to be quite happy running around and basking in the mud (as pigs do). Ron
