I thought this scene would make a nice plain and simple image.
I've warmed up the shot a bit and straightened the verticals.
Is there anything I could have done to improve this.
I'd be grateful for any advice and opinions.
Thanks Guys
Elaine

I did one very similar to this a few years ago. It was the cottage at Nash Point lighthouse. The doors and windows were green not blue, but the composition and stark nature were the same. Yours is better than mine, though and I think that the inclusion of the brush is what makes the difference. Looking back mine was a bit too dehumanised, but the brush gets rid of that feeling altogether. Well done. I learned something here !

Hi Peter,
Thanks very much for your critique.
This was a monastery we happened upon by chance one day. It was all locked up and the little brush was lying on the floor by some tables and chairs on the other side of the courtyard. I'm glad you think including it in the shot was a good move.
Thanks again.

Thanks for the mod Eviscera........I think the extra blue band of color bottom left makes the shot look more balanced - I like it ![]()
The link to the Anatomy of Colors article is very interesting......I'm not clued up on this sort of thing so gonna read it now.
I'm glad you like the shot - cheers for taking the time to help.

Thanks for looking and taking the time to comment Louise. Glad you like it.
Excellent image of Greece. Super composition. The brush is spot on unless you could have got a cat to sit there.
Ian
hello Elaine,
nice shot, the broom is an awesome feature especially as it comes with matching blue stripes if I see correctly. Cleanness is still highly regarded and practiced as I see, it's part of the elegance and the culture.
My only suggestion would be to crop the bottom on the sunshine area despite the fact that your picture contains sunshine parts on the upper steps and the right they are not as striking. So cropping is a totally personal decision.
A well seen and most effective shot - nice blues!
Lavina
Its a very nice vibrant shot. Love the colours and the light. Also loaded a mod, white balance a tad warmer, and theres a small amount of barrel distortion (look at the bottom of the image, you can see slight curve) Ive removed, and applied a little sharpening.
For PABLO, - the brush has 3 stripes, the centre one is blue, the outer wo are red.
regards
Willie
I thought Eviscera's link useful to photographers aiming at creating art. Remember the scope of photography is wide, crime scene, super macro of insects, traffic cameras, and right though to art.
Hi Everyone,
Thanks so much for all of your helpful comments.
Just in from work, and rushing back out again to my yoga class.
I'll reply to you all when I get back in tonight.

Hi Eviscera,
The link was great. I've learned stuff about colors that I never even considered before when taking a shot...............thanks for that
I think it's helpful for photographers to know about color combinations and such.
Thanks for looking at my PF - I'm dead chuffed that you like my work. I feel that some of my shots aren't much cop , but once in a while I seem to produce the odd one with some merit. I'm very grateful for all of the help I receive on here.

Hi Willie,
Thanks for the mod............yes my shot does need warming up a little more.
Ta for the tip on the barrel distortion, and showing me that it can be corrected.
Cheers Willie
Elaine
Hi Frank,
Thanks for your positive critique. I agree that the shot needs warming up a little bit more. I didn't notice it until I saw Willie's mod.
Cheers
Elaine
