Another one from the early bit of Sunday. Not a lot to say about this one (I can hear the sighs of relief from here!)
* It was early
* There was lots of mist in the valley
* The sky had some nice tinges to it
* The light on the fg rocks and heather was

I was waiting for this Fran , it's a corker, just as I remember it, crispy cold air, good recession in the distance,
First of Many!!
Its a cracker Fran, lovely light, mist capture, comp, and colour.
Stunning atmospheric shot, so peaceful.
New camera... can I have your old one? Looks a stunning setting. Particularly like the trees in the centre of the shot. They look magical with the mist.
Thanks Mike, Kim, Chant, Slyvia and Marilyn
We had a really good natter up there, didn't we, Mike - - sorry if I bored you will the enforced "chimping"
Keeping as a "spare" Marilyn - - it's my baby
Didn't get to see this one until last night, IMO you've saved the best 'til now. Lovely light and recession as Mike says, well processed too.
Deserves to do very well x
A lovely scene Fran. No lemmings around I hope. Not a good time or position to upset people I guess, looking down at that drop over the edge.
Lovely mist and very good detail in the rocks.
The light clipping the fg rocks does look very nice and the way the light is hitting the trees looks nice too - lovely view
Caught my eye in the gallery. Stunning image, with an unusual layout that works so well. All the elements produce a great quality shot
That's one beautiful shot. Everything works.
Looks like a wonderful morning to be out on the edge Fran. Youve captured this well, completed with that lovely mist down below.
I'd crop some of that black sky out but apart from that it's a real cracker
Gets my vote Fran. And it def doesnt fade into insignificance next to Adams.
great title and well presented, you've caught the mist really well, nice one Fran
OMG!!!! Can't believe how much attention this has got!!
Thank you sooooo much, everyone
If I'm totally honest I had to crop it as it did have one of my now infamous wonky horizons! Thought it may have reduced the impact - - - perhaps not
Gobsmacked, guys 'n' gals
Superb shot Fran, looks great.
Very atmospheric and a damn good titel.
Thanks Scott and Joe
The title came from a conversation we were having at the pub, Joe
Yes nice light,I like the dark ridge in the middle ground that leads on down the hill.
Great shot you have caught the mist superbly, nice title too. BTW what camera you getting?
I so miss hills and getting this sort of perspective, a cracker
Thanks Matt and Nicholas
Went to Calumet yesterday with the intention of a 40D, but having tried a few I've opted for a 400D Matt, ordered it from Ian Kerr (Kerso) really nice man and superb prices
We've no hills near us Nicholas - - but it's well worth the travelling
looks good to me fran
Good combination of light, shape and mist. Puts mine in the shade I think.
Thanks Ange and Nick - -
Will dispute that, Nick - - the light you've caught on the edge of the rock and the trees is fab
Well captured Fran
Great shot - worth an EC at the very least
OK so my typing was too slow.... EC +1
Thanks Warney and Roger
Take it you mean an RC, Roger - - but if either Pete feels like honoring your suggestion - or if you can light up "that" box .........
Thanks folks - - - really amazed at how well this is doing
It got all that attention because it's good. outstanding image
Beautiful shot - JudeC
Thanks Phil and Jude for your lovely comments
first thoughts were - a bit too much grad used, making the sky go almost black up top. However, because of the smooth graduation I actually think it works really well and makes for a very original image from this well known location.
EDIT: PS the crop works a treat too!
Incredible shot. Very well done
Always appreciate your comments Ann and Danny - - - glad you like it
EDIT - - my humblest apologies, Mike - - I totally missed your comment! Thanks ever so much
Beautiful capture Fran!
Probably the best I've seen from this little meet Fran.
Light is superb on the f/g rocks, and love the heather in the bottom left corner. Think the dark sky pushes the eye down to where the action is this being the mist and the light on the edge and the trees in the valley.
Love the mist as well as pauls shot
Makes it for me hun
see ya at Hardcastle in a few weeks as Tony's cancelled it so i can come
Thanks Ty, Martin and Dave
Praise indeed, Martin
No show without Punch, 'eh Dave
Really like this. Excellent shot, super composition and great light. Love it.
Wow, that's one cracken shot Fran!
Thanks Darren and Rodd
An inch off the top Fran and this is brilliant as opposed to the very good that it is now. Nice light, nice comp and a pleasing view.
Thanks Simon, I did look at it, but decided that I really liked the dark sky at the top - - - ho hummm
Lovely with mist
This is really lovely Fran!
In my opinion Fran this is the best shot you have posted to date. One of these days Robbie and I may have chance to join up with you all again.
Personally I'm with you Fran think the dark top actually helps and the composition is spot on. Agree with digicammad. Rather sad but as nobody else as mentioned the film if a quick flick through is right we must be the only ones who can remember that rather good film
I remember it.
Lovely light and view Fran.Hope you are well.Going to click on your piccies to catch up.
The angle and quality of the light is what makes this work so well. Even in the shadows, there is light.
With shots like this Fran the EC wont be long in coming.
What another new piece of kit, I thought women went out and bought clothes shoes and handbags every week, not you just some more camera kit, good on yer Fran.
Thanks Paul, Ian, Richard, Proz, Tom, Patrick and Les
Superb film, Richard, scared the bejasus out of me the first time I saw it, and it still makes me feel very uncomfortable
Lesson to learn, Tom, going on holiday leads to overtime on EPZ!!
Got wardrobes full of clothes, handbags and shoes, Les
Honestly Fran this has got to be one of your best, if not the best and is definitely worthy of at least an hc.
Beautiful natural tones and love the portrait style, suites the image superbly.
I think I must be no; 61 with this, so not too late....hahaha.
Looks like you were on of the world for this wonderful shot Fran.
Thanks Paul and Hilary
And just as an aside for Issey, I did buy a new bag today - - - for my camera!!!
This is stunning Fran..they just get better and better..excellent title only that was a bit scarey!
Thanks Di and Paul
Certainly was, Di, and it had Clint Eastwood b4 he got crinkly!!
This is a gem Fran. Great light, colours, depth and atmosphere. If I had that camera, I would keep it as a spare too.
Thanks Nigel - - will most likely make a complete hash of the new one - - and come back to my comfort zone VERY quickly!!
Wonderful Fran, try cropping some of the sky to square it off hey presto another pic.
Gr8 idea Chris - - will add it to the list
Excellent capture Fran.
Wow! This is a wonderful shot, like it very much.
Thanks Mark and Mo
Wonderful shot. Do you know I live in the foggiest part of the Country but can I get a misty shot lately ? Well No is the answer........
Great colours, fab photo.
LOL Nicky, typical, isn't it!!
Thanks for your comment
Agree with a few others..this has got to be one of your best Fran...well done, really like it...
'He' has some serious competition..!!!
You heading for Halifax on Sunday?? Be gr8 to cu again
Fantastic fantastic fantastic.... LOVE it.
Thanks you Carsten, hope we do speak soon
you're getting the hang of these camera things
don't think I've seen a shot of "the edge" like this - they're usually soooo predictable (he he) but you've got something refreshing and different here - it shows us just how bitg the edge is with those dinky trees in the lower parts of the shot
Not been around long enough to " do predictable" yet
Excellent work Fran. A great composition.
Thanks Steve, glad you like it
the detail in this is amazing fran
Those grads are really bringing out your shots! need I say any more than has been said?
Thanks Daz and Luis
Was my first outing with the soft grads, Luis, gonna try them out again tomorrow, I hope
Quote: You heading for Halifax on Sunday??
Sorry...heading for the RAIN forest of Epping..
Have fun Kevin
I've missed so many great shots over the past week, I'm pleased your comments led me to this. It really is a cracker.
There we go I have just made this an even better result for you. I don't suppose there is anyone on this site who would not have been pleased had they taken this.
Thanks Alan, glad you found it - - whichever way you got there
Thanks Danny - - - anything with a zero at the end is raaaatther nice
I'm so glad I didn't miss this one. This is just perfect and, along with a good chunk of your portfolio (especially your steam loco), exceptional work. Thanks
Thank YOU, Alan
