Whist driving along the A171 from Nunthorpe towards Guisborough last Sunday, I noticed some of those much-photographed hay bales stacked in a field up a track, just off the dual carriages way and just before a lay by. I stopped to see if there was a "Bales Image" to be had, and to my surprise found this completely concealed pond (perhaps seasonal) behind the trees at the roadside.

This image is a quite heavily cropped version of the image I took - I saw an image within an image... I have posted the image I originally planned to upload as a version so that, if you feel inclined, you can let me know whether you agree or not!

1/60s f11 ISO 100

Thanks for stopping here! Mike

Excellent images, I think I prefer the wider view.

Superb colours in this, Mike; I would tend to go for the crop as well, mostly because of the large area of pleasant but redundant sky. #2 does have a steeper incline leading into the picture on the left - the photo is far from unsatisfactory even uncropped - but needs more to balance it. It's a hard call!
Regards
Bill

Whatever the experts might say, I tend to #2 - I like open spaces, and today I am just longing for them. I have been in the house here and not a single step in front of the door! :-(

A great image(s) Mike. I agree with you regarding the crop and Bill has already used the words I had in my mind - large area of uninteresting sky.

Darren.
