I've never been truely happy with the shot but think it has potential.
I would like to hear your views on what needs improving? I've got think skin so feel free to be brutal.
Cheers Rick

Hi Rick, I can understand why you are not truly happy with the shot ~ you are a photographer! and even a few pro toggs I have worked with will say the same thing ~ we are all looking for perfection or perfection as we see it. One mans meat is another mans ... etc. etc.
The image you have uploaded has nothing wrong with it!.. someone may crop it, or re-process it. At the end of the day it is how you saw, captured and processed it.
If you want an image of the Mona Lisa, go photograph it, there will always be someone who has other ideas, thats the beauty of photography.
Dont be a sheep and follow others, do your own thing. They will either love it or hate it, Hey what the ...
Good shot
Doc
This is very nice and there is little to criticise. My only thought is that I would have liked just a little more sky above the top of the trees.
Other than that . Excellent.
Derek
Its very nice.
But as its in the shark pool .. !
The formats subjective , but your left either wanting a pano , or more sky ?
You found some superb lead in lines just beyond the foreground , but they dont seem to "lead" anywhere. (Did a mod)
Loads of potential as you say , It would look so good if you could get the setting sun just on that lead !

A great shot but as has been said, it's let down a little by a lack of sky.
So, in the spirit of things; if there's not enough there, use someone else's!
In this case, one of mine!
I've modded your original to include more, if totally wrong, sky and also straightened it slightly. It's tricky to know exactly which part of the horizon to use as the background is formed by two hills. I leveled it using the nearest one but that's really subjective.
Hope it's OK.
Bren.

Thanks for all the comments, crits and mod.
Cheers Rick
