I was brought up on the isle of Portland & in the time that passedd, its rugged beauty has also shown its dark side & claimed many a fisherman.

Not too long ago a local fisherman got swept off of a rock to his fate.

This ballad was written & performed by loacl band the Dolmen as a tribute to him , so please give it a listen as you look through this and my other Portland varients ..which are my tribute in part to the lost & the living : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XLrBOJrCzA0

On a lighter note...most people go up to Portland Bill and head to the lighthouse. ..however, just half a mile to the left instead of the right (sorry, no good with North, east, south & west), then you will come to an even more interesting seascape!!

Hope you enjoy the series....FROM THE HEART AS ONE MAY SAY !!

Gareth.

Love bothe the mono and colour versions.
Very rugged and great waves which you've captured
very well. The colour versions has great contrasts
between water and rocks.
I will listen to the song.
Sorry it was inspired by sad circumstances.

V4 for me, rugged and isolated. I think I can often tell when people are photographing the places that they know intimately. There isn't the need to prove anything, the love shines through.

This reminds me of the thing we heard as children! long long long ago! it was a dark and stormy night two robbers sat in a cave! one said to the other I will tell you a story!and the story began "it was a dark and stormy night two robbers sat in a cave" lol. no disrespect, I think the fishermen of this country have had a rotten time for too long! and it's about time things changed for the better for them!, I do get very angry about it. Great photo B&W fits it nicely, I love colour but B&W has it's place with subtle tones and intense depths, a like from me, will listen to the link, thank you for your comment, regards Leon.GrinGrinGrinGrinGrin

a fine series that reminds me of an old book about the Aran islands I had a long time ago... Very atmospheric. Must try youtube at work, to slow her for music.

Love V2 & 3 for the clairty and beautiful colours, V1 and 4 for the dramatic intensity that mono gives ... I'm with Leon on the fishermen, and with your on the fish ... used to river fish for no other reason than I had always hoped to catch a fish for tea, never got one big enough for a bite, let alone a meal Sad ... regards, Carol
