From a shortish session today - celebrating the fact that this is the first time Gizzy has driven herself to my place for a shoot, since passing her test in November...
So we tried a few lighting effects. Some art nudes. Some bodyscapes. And some straightforward portraits.

I like it very much but believe it would have been improved with diffused, softer light.
I take the point that softer light would have been "kinder" - but it would also have been a completely different picture... The essence of this is that it is a hard-edged, shadows-and-highlights sort of a portrait, and not what the standard rules would suggest.
Gizzy is a very definite person, and this shows in her face: I wanted to use very definite lighting to bring out the planes and contours. Not every model can stand this much scrutiny - or, at least, stand it without complaint. Gizzy is as brave as she is beautiful and talented: good reason to work with her repeatedly!
