Something a little different today. I ventured out into the wonderful sunshine and visited the BCU European Championships and the National Watersports Centre in Nottingham.
This is my first real attempt at action so any tips and advice are very welcome

A cracking action shot really showing the effort and concentration they put into the sport.
(I watched some of this on the Box today and, as always, was amazed at the skill they demonstrate)
can't give you any technical tips except maybe to dial in a little +ve exposure compensation to lighten the faces a tad and use AI focus (if you have it) to keep the focus spot on the face.
Hopefully one of the resident watersport experts will be along to help later

Fantastic action shot! You have captured the feeling in the faces perfectly! The foaming water and definition on the arms just adds to the action of this shot! Nice one!
Really love this , you have caught the action so well and as everyone says getting the face is so good. I tried these shots on holiday but , although I got the faces I felt they were a bit dark.So I can truly appreciate how chuffed you must be getting this level at your first attempt.Very well done.

Joined at the hip. I like the tension on this, faces and arms pulling away from each other but pulling together.

Hi John
For a first timer you have done a better job than many other photographers that regually attend this type of event.
Nicely captured on the faces which is important, the only down side is the hands at the top but i can let you off as its your first time.
Regards
Tony
This is excellent. The expressions are superb, the exposure looks ok to me - and just see the definition in the muscles and feel the grip of the fingers on the paddles! Zooming out a couple of mm would have caught the top hands in full, agreed, but for a first time effort you have done a magnificent job.
Regards
Bill
P.S.: Lightening the faces without removing the rest of the heavy shadow from the rear crewman' chest only partially copes with the problem. Better left as-is, for me at least.
I think this works well, glad you made it over there. I cannot work out why this excellent facility isn't being used in 2012 (I think I'm right in saying that anyway). It would be fantastic for us in the midlands if it was (what with the Grand Prix at Donnington too!)
I struggle taking action shots, so respect to you sir!
Jon
