How beautiful!! I've never seen one with it's wings open! (I've only ever seen pictures of them with their wings closed!)

Thanks folks and I'm glad it is interesting. They come down low in the Oaks, on particularly hot days when you can see the wings. Males and females are quite different.

Never managed to nail one yet, but that is probably my fault, for not being at the right place at the right timeSmile

Apparently there is a colony at Wicksteed park, only 15 minutes walk from home, but never been to investigateSad
