Passing through Swithland today the churchyard was full of snowdrops. It was a bit wet but thought I'd have a go at isolating one of them. Nice to know what you think cos' this macro thing is a bit scary!!
This was done at iso 200, F11, about 1/10th sec and using a tripod.
Thanks for taking a look and as I said any advise would be appreciated ![]()

Nice snowdrop image. Get wet did you lying in the grass to take this shot? For me the best bit is the detail in the green 'pod' just behind the petals. The detail and clarity there is fantastic. The detail on the petals may be just a good but I think the darker colour just adds that something.
I have noticed what maybe a very subtle out of focus highlight on the LHS just above half way. It looks like a smear on my monitor but its on the image and it keeps drawing my eye as I hate dirty monitors.
Well worth the effort for the shot. Think I'll cheat and buy a pot of them and a garden spray for the weekend ![]()
Cheers,

Great shot Paul; the overall effect is superb and I love the composition and that dark green contrasting with that bright white.
But thave to agree with Tony that on close inspection it feels like the DOF doesn't reach to the front of the petals; maybe even f11 isn't enough, or maybe the droplet details just don't stand out so well against the white? (or maybe I should be less critical and get out there and have a try for myself
)

Lovely study of a snowdrop Paul, love the water droplets!
