I was using my 10mm wide angle with a polarizer to try and rescue some sky detail. I was really struggling with the light vrs shadow here. The sky was moody with very white highlights and that was throwing the trees in darkness. I tried my hand at Layers masking in PS. What do you think? Has it worked well? What else could I have done?

The rape field is perfect, as is the row of trees in the background. The sky is definitely overdone. Perhaps you could work it on two layers one for the land and one for the sky then merge them. The scene is beautiful, and it definitely deserves your efforts.
the background. The sky is great i like yellow flowers in farm meadow very nice ![]()
I like the detail in the sky, the rape field glows in the sunlight and the track around the field is an excellent lead in/through. But your processing has left a halo on the tree line. Having the original as a version is quite useful for comparison. Without the halo, I like what you have done with this, Judith.

An excellent sky with loads of interest and detail above that wonderful spread of yellow rape: I felt the shadowed areas in the f/g were just a little too dark and have applied a 10% lightening there in a mod.....just enough to show a bit more detail without detracting from the original in any major way. Hope this causes no offence, Judith.
Ronnie.
Can you load your original shot as a version or as a modification so we can see what you started with? Will help a lot with the feedback.
This might sound silly, but its a circular polarizer, and you are meant to rotate it to get the effect you want, - and it works best when the direction of the light is at 90 degrees to the polarizer, you do know this, right?
regards
Willie
Ronnie - I am keen to hear and see feedback and that's why I am here - so no - definitely not offended and I like your mod better than the original. I think I need to go back to PS and have another play as I would have no idea how to lighten it just enough without it being obvious that I did it. Thankyou everyone.
