A still-life that I cobbled together on the theme of sailing. I know nothing about sailing but a friend is an enthusiast and he loaned me the bits and pieces. The shadow effect was created with a gobo - a metal stencil that fits over the light. A wide-angle lens is unusual for still-life but I thought the perspective effect, with the books looming large in the foreground, worked well.
I got the title from a similarly-themed John Wayne film. The print was toned in Agfa Viradon which, literally, stinks.

Generally like it, though the fact there is so much writing and almost none of it readable, takes away a bit imo.

very nice , like the shadowed effect, that with the sepia make it very " forties".

Thank you folks. Tommie, the original print is considerably larger and the text easier to read - I must admit it didn't occur to me that the text would be harder to read on this uploaded version. Anyway, unless you're into sailing it doesn't make for very interesting reading. Smile
It's ok Ann, I worked with the window wide open.
Thanks for the mod Paul, appreciated.

Reminds me of 'The Long Way Round' (Ewan McGregor and Charlie Boorman) and their preparations for the trip. Along with many other travel books. The books in the FG are a reminder of the 3 ps - preparation, preparation, etc.
