Was fooling around on Photoshop and decided to revamp the ePhotozine main page for fun. Took me a whole day to do it but hey.
This serves no other purpose than fun!
Hope you like it! Leave comments of what you think about it.

Notes:
The top left section is what I call the Quick Profile. It basically gives a brief and simple overview of your profile (once you have logged in).
The ranking system (those 5 stars thing) is something I thought about but half way through doing this realised that it may not be such a good idea after all. Initially I wanted a ranking based on how active a member is but then I thought that well, some of us just don't have the time to participate actively. And besides, this is a photography site first, social site second. So I thought a ranking based on points accumulated from the number of positive feedback given towards an uploaded photo would be nice. Bonus points for getting an Editor's Choice, Reader's Choice etc. But then, for some, those pros out there, it would be great but for the amateurs, it might be a bit disheartening. So, rather than a ranking system, we could perhaps get a 'star' for getting Editor's choice, Reader's choice. Something like an achievement list. A medal of honour thing.
And then there's the 2 photo review of your own portfolio. Rather than having to visit my portfolio page all the time to see the number of votes/comments, I wanted something that I could just see from any page. Seeing that the left menu bar is persistent on all pages, I think it would be nice have the Quick Profile there so that I can always see easily enough if I have new messages or new comments on my recently uploaded pics.
Anyways...
The other new 'feature' that I had implemented was a blog like feature. Maybe I'm just silly and slow, but I keep finding out new features on this site only by using it. I'd rather be informed expressively through newsletters or blog postings. That way, I wouldn't miss out on stuff and also I can get a proper explanation of what the feature is used for etc.
I don't know how many folks are using a high resolution monitor but I would love to see the EPZ site made wider! And yes, we still need to cater to those who are using an 800x600 resolution but that's why I would like the option. See top right section for the choice of Narrow or Wide format.
And then, there's the Reader's Gallery Widget. Very similar to flckr's widget. Basically its purpose is to refresh itself every 1 minute or a user-defined time, and show you the latest 15 pictures that have been recently added to the gallery. You can mouse-over the thumbnails for a slightly bigger picture and see brief info about it (title, author etc) and click on it to open the actual page itself.
I've also changed the look of the site just a wee bit. I felt it was too cluttered and filled with too many adverts (animated ones too!) and information. I would rather show a smaller amount of items from news, reviews, forums etc. with a link to more items should the user chooses. That way, you won't get a long list of stuff on the main page.. but just the latest 5 stuff from each section.
I've also partitioned the Photo of the Week, competitions, sample gallery by adding a very light blue background. I think it would subtly help to separate the columns nicely.
Well, that's it, I think. Excuse the grammar. It's late. I'm tired and my eyes are hurting so I'm sure there are lots of typos here.
Enjoy!

I've added my notes in on the design of the site.. but realised that by doing so, I've just named myself as the person who did this 'shot'.
Hmmm.. didn't realise that clicking the 'Critique' option also meant that the photo's author becomes anonymous.
Ah well..
I like it..looks good. Like the Narrow/Wide Layout idea that would suit me.
Could there possibly a "Readers Choice" link in the menu? It is currently only available if you have received a readers choice within the photo page itself?
Also, possibly adding an email link to the "By" bar in comments on a photo if the commentee has an email and has aloowed it to be used?
