The coot is a little out of focus. It was getting late, light was failing and I'd waited ages to get some foreground interest.

Comments always welcome.

I really like this one, the coot looks a little soft, but I love the golden pattern made by the reeds.

Shame the coot looks a bit soft otherwise this is good picture, colour, texture and composition.

lovely - i particularly like the broken reeds which 'break' the lines of the others.

it is a small shame that the coot is soft, but it's not too bad as without it the picture would not be nearly as good.

Thanks for all the comments. I'm still learning a lot, so these comments are a great source of education.

I had to open the aperture right up as I didn't have my tripod and light was going fast. The reed beds were about 200 yards away as well!

The lake is on my way home and this was taken on my first reccy, so I'll be back with more.

Nice and simple Edward. Shame the coot is a little out of focus but it still gets my click.

Great shot, despite the softness of focus of the coot it is still perfectly positioned in the frame and contributes to the overall beauty of the image.

Very nice, as everyone has said, it's a shame the coot isn't perfectly sharp, but that aside it is excellent. As one who normally dislikes frames I have to say yours sets the picture off really well.

Lovely eye catching shot. Pity about the bird though, just stops it being a winner. the light and composition are excellent.

I was going to comment on this shot this morning. But the birds were singing, the dogs were anxious to go for a walk, the sun was shining......hang about it was p***ing down. So no chance of a shot like this.
Love it, the inclusion of the coot adds to the depth and context of the image. The lighting is beautiful. The joys of shooting RAW (you listening CB). Click.

Simply magical shot, the reflections are just amazing, probably make an abstract all on their own.

I keep coming back to this one and have decided (for me) its more of a pictorial photograph and a bloody good one too. I just love the colours, the presentation and hey, no sky, brill.
