Havana.
I applied the graduated filter in Lightroom over most of this image to lighten it up.
Thanks for looking and for your time. Hope you're having a great weekend.

Super candid portrait, great composition and somehow for me he fits into the urban decay that surrounds him, if that makes any sense.............. probably not but i know what i mean Smile

A super shot Ann.
(And that filter might have brightened up my recent upload a bit !!)
Mick.

I like this 'un because as I examine it, the outline of a story seems to unfold. First there's the sad guy himself, and then as my eye starts to roam it picks up the decay beyond him. Then my gaze lands on the "picnic" by the leg of his chair and it seems to say "he has nowhere else to go and anyway, no reason for going".

Melancholic!

A look of utter dejection and heavy worldly cares seem to characterise this elderly chap, Ann, and no wonder given the surroundings in which he's seated. Again, what strikes me as fascinating is that children in such situations always manage laugh and play whereas the adults look totally worn down and unable to overcome the desolation around them.
A very fine candid capture, Ann.

I always find it amazing that even in the most run down drab conditions, the colours they are dressed in are always so vibrant (this chap's shoes are pristinely white). Sitting there musing on a chair that is missing at least one leg and is propped on that crate, it is a very poignant image Ann.

Melancholic, careworn, poignant, despair, sad..... maybe some or all of these apply, but he looks clean, and his clothes are clean not threadbare. I think he is just world-weary. You have produced an image which conveys great emotion, Ann. Excellent work.

Rather than reflecting, I get the impression of resignation, Ann. Sitting outsside a chained and locked local, sitting on a makeshift one-legged chair and a box with all he owns in his hands and on the ground beside him.
Acceptance for his situation as he relaises he has no hope of anything better.
Worth an award for the story rather than the technical qualities of the image.
