This monument needs no introduction. The only exceptional thing about the picture was that it was taken without a tripod at sunset. This was shot a month after the 2008 Mumbai bombings so pods weren't allowed on site forcing me to lay prone to get the photo...

That's pretty good at 1/4sec. Can't fault the result I would have had to have upped the ISO to 200 at least.

A classic image, full of quality, and all captured at 1/4 of a second. Brilliant.

Thank you all for the comments. Dave, I couldn't really up the ISO as the air quality is notoriously bad on the sub continent (there are loads of open fires). So I rammed the camera + flash hard on the floor, and used the timer.

Stunning image of the Taj Mahal.
Would a higher ISO greate noise if there is air pollution?
Amazing job without tripod.

That light is superb on the Taj. Unfortunately when we were there it was earlier in the day. (we were in India at the time of the bombings but not in Mumbai.) love this image - it has brought back great memories of this wonderful country.

Thanks again everybody for commenting. Hi Kate, all ISO's would record light scattering due to pollution. The higher ISO's just make it more obvious. The same is true of thermal noise when your camera's being gently cooked in hot weather!

Hi Jason. Ta muchly, but with more and more places banning pods, I've had to get better at handheld at low shutter speeds. Mind you, the number of pics I have to chuck is still horrendous...
