can't remember where it was but south of france anyway..
oh and it was raining!

these type of shots are not my forte lol eg didn't know where to crop for the best (there wasn't much more of it really except some white sky) i quite
liked it though, anyway

thanks for looking

PF looking dead scruffy an all mixed up! wouldn't it be nice if you could rearrange your pics the way you can in showcase... i know, i should be more methodical tsk!

May not be your forte, but I think you did great. Super use of lines leading the eye and though a bit muted, the tones work for me.

I think the crop is just about right Jo, and the composition is good with the curves leading the eye into the shot.

You know you need a figure in there don't you though? You do know really, right?? Just where the curves almost meet before they disappear round the corner. A pretty French girl in a red dress Smile

Dave.

Yes, where are you Jo? This is fine, good lead in , like the muted colours and the perspective

Malcolm

It has a great sense of loneliness and past time. the composition works really well, jo, I wouldn't worry too much !

honestly, i cant abide it when people keep posting shots of their french holiday...ha ha

lovely shot jo...great lead in lines and i like the fact that it has no sky in the shot...makes you concentrate your eye on the buildings

Best type of light to shoot this kind of thing - no harsh shadows to spoil it.

The cobbles could be sharper but as this was (probably) handheld, and I guess a wide shutter, then it's not surprising they're slightly soft.

Everything else is spot on.

Like the tones and the rain has added to the freshness of the shot.
May not be your forte but you've done good.
Nice one Jo..

A good pic Jo, especially considering it was a dull wet day. Uploaded a mod.

Lovely soft light in this one Jo, and the light tan cobbles help a lot. It wouldn't be the same with black tarmac would it?

Nice shot. I've been known to take the odd pic of French towns myself. Do you notice how it's almost impossible to determine what to measure vertical from? Almost nothing is dead upright; walls, shutters, doors. I guess the builders are all too p***ed to use a plumb line.

Great shot Jo. The lovely muted colours with the white building at the back draw the eye well.
