The first of this year's Scarborough Flyer on the return leg back to Crewe hauled by 46233 Duchess of Sutherland, recently painted in BR Express Green.
As it was a damp, dull evening I borrowed Sarah's K-r as the noise from my K10D is much too noticeable at anything above ISO 400. It's the second time I've managed to get my hands on it and I'm impressed. A great little camera.

Many thanks to Julia for the GEA yesterday. Much appreciated.

V2 is the colour version

A super well timed composition and unusually for me No. 2 gets the vote. I do however think this would benefit from sepia toning to give it a retro feel.

Great image.
Mono for me as I think it brings out the detail in the steam.

Two really good examples of our railway heritage captured in a photograph, which are crammed packed full of detail and nostalgia. My humble vote is awarded to the monochromatic version, simply because it seems to add that something a little special to this already cracking steam powered image.

Fine head on capture of the subject, Alan, and whilst the B and W version adds drama and is perhaps more evocative of the steam age, it's the colour version at V 2 that gets my vote today.

Great image, Alan. I'd normally go for the colour, but your mono is so good, that's the one for me.
