...from the road down into Elgol on the misty Isle of Skye.
wonderful comp and detail dougie brilliant tones a belter nice one
yet another image that wants me to get up there...
what a wonderful comp.
This has a very clean, cool austerity. Plus again that here/there divide.
Can I suggest that it might benefit from a crop at the top, to place the horizon exactly half way up the frame? It works for me, it prevents the lighter clouds at the top from competing against the island for attention.
An amazing view and well captured. I went there when it was sunny and clear, yet this makes me want to go back when its like this. Very moody with excellent detail.
The curve in the road takes us right there.
Actually it could be interpreted another way, with the road leading by interpolation to the water's edge - where it stops, leaving Rhum so near yet so far.
Full of atmosphere, rain falling over the sea while a break in the cloud sheds light on the water.
so tranquil and beautiful . No where better than the west for the wonderful scenery.gill
Barry...Many Thanks for your UA award, a great pleasure.
Moira...I had considered it and was going to crop the left at the same time, but decided to keep the clearer skt to show it was a localised storm.
Bill...I always feel that Rhum is just out of reach. I must go there one day soon.
A fantastic composition, the winding road taking one straight to the heart of the action. Whilst the tempestuous overhanging and ever so powerful skies above and both drama and wonderment to the image.
Lead in and to the magic Isle !!! Dougie
Certainly how I always seen to find Elgo raining, good view point of the incoming rain Dougie
Wonderful sky and patch of sunshine on the sea. The road makes a good lead in and the sheep add interest.
So great with the spot of light on the open water
All the right ingredients Dougie.
Like the winding road
and sheep as company all the way to the sea

Think you made the right choice there as the brighter sky at the top lifts the whole image. Typical Scottish weather!
The curved lead in provided by the road leads the eye to the only bright patch in the image, in the middle of the sound, and then the pièce de résistance, the localised rain over Rhum. The sky and the rain make this, Dougie.
Lovely shot !!!.....nice healthy drop of rain on the horizon !
Rain over Rum... and still, the island is clear on the horizon. What a great sight!
