Decided to try something a bit different today...street photography.
Took myself off to the Bailgate area of Lincoln, between the Castle & Cathedral, great place but very busy.

This guy does Horse-drawn carriage tours around the Castle & Cathedral, this was one occasion he & his horse weren't surrounded by people. He had just given his horse ( Ebony) a well earned drink...what they were both looking at I don't know but I like the fact they are both looking in the same direction.

The Gent infact is my next-door neighbour,Doug, who does this most weekends.
He didn't pose for me...neither did the horse Wink...just 'one of those moments'.

I have taken him a print of this & he loved it !

Tried a mono conversion too which I will load as a variant...I like both Smile

The light was nothing to speak of,so I avoided the sky, instead you can see the Cathedral in the bg through the archway.

F5 manual mode
1/125th sec handheld
ISO 200
Pattern metering
F/L 28mm
+1EV
Raw file converted in Lightroom, bit of a crop for composition & finished in Photoshop.

Thanks for looking, constructive crit is most welcome.
Janet xx

The colour version is favourite - nicely composed - like the background of arches and windows.

Strangely enough I think I prefer the mono version here Janet. It's an attractive candid with plenty to hold the interest and a pleasing bit of background architecture. What "spoils" this a little for me is the dark archway far left which tends to pull the eye a little.

Thanks all, many thanks for your UA too Ann,much appreciated.

Not much I could have done with that bit Dave & couldn't crop it off because of the position of the Horse Sad

Nice one Janet. I think I prefer the colour version. Agree with DaveU about the dark arch - Bricurtis' mod does the trick.
