A bridge.... on the Thames would you believe
. The problem at this time of year is that the sun does not set until after my bedtime
. So, to hurry things along, I tried a 'golden' rather than 'blue' hour shot. The mass of dark bottom left was not ideal but I couldn't crop it without losing elsewhere. The Shard, Tower Bridge, HMS Belfast (just about) and St Pauls in silhouette.
Many thanks to all that viewd/voted/commented on Albert Bridge and to John, Ronnie, Lin and Rob for their UAs - very much appreciated.
Shot in Raw, Iso200, 1/125s, f11 at 24mm. Tripod and remote release.
Stay dry,
Cheers, Dave

Wonderful image, great composition and light.
Hugh
Oh btw re my image today, I did think of other colours for her eye, maybe try one or two see how they look.

I'm seeing a certain amount of detail in the bottom right section, I think my monitor is calibrated a bit lighter than some people's. It's just right for me - enough detail to give a sense of depth, progression into the frame. Like this one a lot, the glow is so subtle and the mix of gold and blue in the water is magical.
Moira
Very satisfyingly golden. And probably way beyond my bedtime too ![]()

like the shimmering tones on the water and the inclusion of the Shard has given me the knowledge of were it is lots of detail in the shot...have a good weekend

Dave, nice sharp line into softer background, like the tones in the street lights, nice colours.........
Paul.
Nice backlit subjects showing good colouring in the reflected water. Well done. WesternRed.
Wonderful golden colours and light, Dave, with so many London "sights" captured in silhouette: I know what you mean about the dark area, but there was little you can do about that, other than alter your composition, but that's easier said than done.
Ronnie.
Please accept my humble star for this wonderful image of my favourite city..
I miss it so much!!!
Composed and exposed with excellence Dave.

Trev.
Dave, Rio de Oro is a striking picture. I love the golden light and the reflections in the water. Deep
Iconic silhouette of bridge meets soon to be iconic shard. This will be an interesting historical record shot as well as a pleasing image and you've calculated the sun position very carefully. Either that or you were running up and down the path with tripod extended causing a nuisance! ![]()
Al
A cracking silhouette really has things standing out, very good capture.
John
Yep, I know what you mean about not cropping the dark part on the right bottom. That would lose the beautifully lit water.
I gotta be honest with you, Dave. I wouldn't have registered the dark bit had you not mentioned it ![]()
I looked at the image and just went wowww at the sky, silhouettes, and water.
Very nice ![]()

A beautiful and colourful capture, Dave - I didn't really look at the dark area at the bottom, the interesting part attracts the eye away from it ![]()

Another superb image Dave, a beautiful night shot, well done..Lin
Nice to see the Shard making an appearance.. Like the way you have captured many London iconic landmarks from an interesting perspective.. The peeping sun just pulls it all together.. Top class![]()
this works beautifully and has a certain moodiness about it
congratulations for all those awards... well deserved for this excellent shot!
LOL the title confused me. You and I tread the say streets but your eye for composition is in a different league. You mention the lost area in the right foreground but it is there for a purpose and to lose it would ruin the composition. Your trade mark sharpness is there and the detail you have managed to retain makes the shot. Congratulations on all you awards a wonderful achievement. Regards Russell
Nice Image Dave
Sorry ,but it stops there......
For me to much shadow especially lower right.
Maybe --and its a bit old hat ,a single pixel border to hold the shot in.
Now your Battersea shot, thats a belter!
Nice to see "golden hour" in your tags.
