A Robin (Erithacus rubecula), taken yesterday from my hide in the garden, this time moved in closer and without teleconverter. V2 is the original uncropped image prior to any sort of processing
Settings: F/5.6 1/1250sec ISO250 manual @ 500mm tripod
Many thanks for your C&Cs on my last upload - as always very much appreciated ![]()

This down the back pose has to be one of the best. Really nice capture this is Sylvia. I would of also liked to have seen it in Landscape mode with space to the right of the image. Perch and BG is spot on, Well captured
A really lovely shot Sylvia with excellent detail and a captivating pose and composition. Have put up a mod - it's no better just a little different.

Hi Brian, have uploaded the original uncropped image as V2 - would love a mod to see how you would like to see it - all part of the learning curve ![]()
Sylvia
Just noticed the original in V2 Sylvia and didnt realise you cropped the image so heavily. What i would say if this was from a hide in the garden you either need to move the hide closer or the food and perch closer to the hide as you really need to try and not crop so heavily as you will loose so much detail and quality. Its easy to crop an image but thats not the road you want to go down i agree at times you have no choice but with a Robin and your hide you should be able to get alot closer in with a 500mm and not crop as hard. If you can try that i think you will see a big difference if you dont crop as heavy in the quality of the shot. Give it a try !!

I find even with my 500 small birds are quite difficult and you DO need to get closer - not always possible - still think you have a good shot here despite the heavy crop
I agree about getting closer Sylvia but there is still some lovely detail even with such a crop as you have here, love the pose too,
Geoff.
A superb Robin Sylvia and a great pose with the turn of the head..Very well captured and a lovely shot.
