Sorry but its not perfect. Are you heavily cropping these STEVELIN ? , Because when viewed large this like yesterday's shot has lost all defintion in the plumage and looks very soft indeed and becoming pixelated.

Lovely capture !

Chris

Good comp and spot on focus. Well captured.

Great pose, but on looking at the large version there's something not quite right - you seem to have lost detail and got some unusual patterning in the background. Have you compressed this heavily, perhaps?

Nicely timed capture, but I'd have to agree with KatieR and Brisco - viewed large this should have better detail and less noise.

i have to agree as well barry, im on a learning curve at the momment trying out some sharpening in ps and as you can see from the results still have a bit of a way to go i think im over doing it a little,"or a lot"
i think i should have put my last uploads in the critique and mods section and put up a detailed note of what i have done to the original
shot im going wrong some where but where i dont know .
thanks
steve

Brian's right Steve. This looks really good as we see it here but it does lose something in the large version.
There's some noise in there and I think you may have oversharpened it a touch.
Jester.

does being a e2 member and having the large view option mean that your uploads have to be viewed large? if they look ok on the first page is that not ok some members insist view large and quote this in their upload , i have said this myself but only if the upload looks the way i would like it to look in a large version,so im happy with the not so large version,

STEVELIN, Even in the small version if you have a half decent eye you can see the detail is all lost it just shows it up more when viewed large. So even if the Large version wasnt available i would still see it in the normal size. What you should do if your trying to learn PS with sharpening etc or whatever your doing is upload both original version and after processing version for comparison. Or better still allow Mods or even better subit them to the Critique gallery with your settings etc for help!!

Fully agree with Brian on this Steve. The fault definately is with using NeatImage incorrectly. I will message you with my process.
If you use it wrong it just blends everything and gives it a wash

You're very welcome Steve
You will get the Nice, Sharp and great capture
To me these people are looking for you to click back and can lead you into a false sense of security.
They do not help in any way to improve as they are not constructive in any way
Sorry to say all this but God it makes me so mad at times. The sign is look at how many constructive comments they have made by putting the pointer over the star, that is if they even have one

Hi Steve, its a shame we can't see the original to see exactly where the problem is. I don't have NeatImage and can't see anything here that suggests you do, however, I'm always willing to help out if you have to resort to sharpening in PS,
Geoff.

Ive left plenty of constructive HONEST critism on alot of photos on here and yet my constructive critique is still only 1 so that doesnt always confirm. But its true people should stop leaving nice comments just for the sake of getting clicks back, Its about learning from people thats what i want anyway. I hope you get Neatimage to work for you STEVELIN.

And yes if you could upoad the originals along side it would help (GOOD LUCK)
