This male brambling is preparing for summer, his head plumage is turning black ! While the others still had a full set of winter clothes, this one was different. That is why I dare to upload another one Smile Unfortunately I don't know if there are any left, as usual all birds were gone when I came home.

Many thanks for the kind C&C on the waterfall action. No I did not try it, did you notice the guy who is completely under water?

Well captured, Annette, I didn't realise they changed head gear with the seasons.

Fantastic detail -- especially since it looks like there might have been a stiff breeze blowing his feathers.
The grey bg adds nicely to the winter feel of this shot.

He does look so handsome in his latest plumage! Our Bramblings are still around, so guess yours are too. According to the books they go back to Russia and Scandinavia in March. Just not too sure if the Barmblings have read that book though! Grin

Roll on summer indeed and let's hope it's somewhat better than last: this wee bird is preparing for it.......and a fine shot of it you have too, Annette.

Lovely shot. He's going into breeding plumage. We were in Scarborough at the weekend and though it was very cold, the black headed gulls had black heads ready for the breeding season.

You're all so clever knowing how these birds change their plumage for the season.
I find it hard enough to distinguish one bird from another never mind sex and seasonal changes.
Lovely bird - this brambling - have never seen one for myself.

Poor fella looks frozen, Annette Grin. Super capture. No, I didn't notice the fella completely submerged, just been back to have another look, spotted his hand (I think) Smile Carol
