This rose had been "weathering" in our local cemetery for several months. I prefer the colour version, but I've uploaded the B&W version as V2 to see what you like best.
Many thanks to Albert (Fentiger) for his much appreciated user award on Reflections 2! Smile

Another classic Rende observation!
The lighting and contrast between the leaves and the background, particularly in V1, is wonderful.

I think in this case mono loses most of what is good about this image, particularly in the lighter area at the top of the flower.
I love the colour version though. The subdued colouring and crisp wet highlights give this unusual image an atmosphere all of its own.

The color definitely....the bronze gold tone of the rose against the somber background makes a suitable memorial for the intended. Sad, and very beautiful in its simplicity.

Also for me ,the bronzed hues in V1 is superb.. Lovely rendition

I guessed the location before reading...
Excellent, and congratulations on the GEA. I want to tone down the light on the stone bottom left, but not top left, I want darkness rising up into light.

Version 1 for me, too. The monochrome is excellent; however, I find the reflected light lower left just a little more intrusive than in the colour, which also shows off the contrast between the textures on the flower just that little bit better.
Otherwise, what can I say? Congratulations on the GEA - never more deserved than by you.

Bill

The image is a work of art, Rende. Color for me, the ocre tones are enhanced with the patina and the light reflections. Beautiful!

The patina ofv1 is superior to the excellent b&w version, I feel.
Made me think of a Croix de Guerre emblem I saw on a tomb in le Père Lachasie cemetery in Paris.
