Could be Colorado but in actual fact it's France. Provence has a geological area where this sandstone occurs on a large scale. Roussillon is just one location in Provence, heat and colour.
The colours in the rocks there are so spectacularly rich as your image shows, Ron: and I may be wrong ( I have to admit I often am ) but this may be the location where painters in past days obtained their rich ochre colours for their palette, crushing the rocks to powder and mixing it with whatever they used to create a workable substance.
The wide angle lens has afforded a most effective shot and the inclusion of the visitors has allowed an appreciation of the scale of the landscape.
A stunning capture, outstanding, love it.
Those ochre deposits are stunning.
Certainly impressive colours Ron.
A deliciously warming composition stuffed with a wonderfully array of rustic hues Ron.
Colourful, well thought out and composed and very impressive, Ron!
And in France, too!
Its all been said above!! Class Image!!
Impressive scene Ron.
Heat and colour sums it up nicely Ron.
Like the way the steps catapult you into that cauldron of heat, Ron.
How lovely a place. Beautiful shot Ron.......Sandy
Superb composition and Pov of the Path ...
Reminds me of a Zen path ....
An unusual image, the thumbnail does not do it justice.
Nice one Ron
Unusual and outstanding capture.
Great shot, I love forward-motion given by the stairs. The PoV is excellent.
leads the eye really well Ron....
Very impressive landscape and I like the inclusion people too.
Great shot, Ron, fabulous colours. We visited a couple of years back but were too late for the walk. This year it was too hot to stay out long! There'll be another chance.
Thank you all very much, most appreciated indeed !!
An amazing scene and capture!
looks indeed very much like on the othere side of the Pyrenees, round Llerida. And fisheye looks good here!!
You confuse me.. Roussillon is part of the department Pyrénées orientales, round Perpignan? Not in the Provence?
