The is the village of Rousillon as seen from the south, near the entrance to the ochre mineworkings.
I shot this picture shortly after dawn while the sunlight was diffused by a thin sheet of cloud. I rather liked the way the soft light brought out the colours of the houses. After waiting for the sun to emerge I realised I'd already caught the best light and wandered off to explore the town...
Working with a large-format camera allowed me to use front fall to pull in the foreground without the risk of converging verticals. I added a small amount of front tilt just to keep everything in focus.
