Didn`t realise how hard it was to shot dark grey moving subjects on a bright background---with the sun high and behind me..

To answer your question - I shot using the D800 in DX mode on a Sigma 300 f2.8 @f5.6 or thereabouts... Heavy lump to chuck around after fast moving aircraft Smile
