It must have been very pleasing to have captured this photo. You must have anticipated you shot well.
If you adjust the levels of your photo in the individual chanels, red, green and blue or do the same using curves, you will be able to eliminate the slightly hazy look and bring out the colours of the bird more.
Just thought it might help
