Rich, Tracey and I had spent a day car touring and looking at floods. We headed back towards our digs but diverted just long enough to visit this old fortress at Kingussie on Speyside.
The Barracks holds an imposing position under normal conditions, but under lowering skies with flood water around and the watery light of a setting sun it was really atmospheric.

Incredibly moody - love it.
Love the stormy mood to this. Den
Very moody shot!
A great capture, excellent detail and composition.
Many thanks everyone. Although I think that this is a prime example of happening to be in the right place at the right time!
A great atmospheric image.
Hello George, this is wonderful, fantastic lighting. I hope you are well
Wow, you have captured it superbly, I swear it looks as if it is still teaming with life! Brilliant shot! Spot on! Click!!!
That looks an amazing place - all the more so due to your good fortune with the lighting, your choice of composition and your timing!
Find myself wishing that you had lightened the top and shadows of the buildings just a fraction more although it obviously reflects the lighting at the time. The blues of the sky and the yellow of the slope work very well together.
A very imposing view and an exciting picture. My step father was a scottish Ruthven so I have a person interest as well.
love the comp, it is superb, George, lovely, click (*:*)
Can't be bettered George . A wonderful mood and feeling. Great composition as always . Great light and a marvellous lowering sky . xx
Brilliant George....the light, the weather, the flood all make for an unusual but powerful image of the barracks...very good work..!!
Lovely George, you were at the right spot at the right time. I have passe this by so many times I will now have a look... your camera has been kind to Scotland.
All the best
Light and sky superb
Very dramatic George, never been there myself, looks as if they have had a lot of floods?.
Wonderful picture, George.
The colours makes it even more spooky.
The lighting in this is just superb, George - just so atmospheric!
loverly stormy sceane
So many thanks everyone, really good to hear from you all.
Floods, yes we had them. The road between Kingussie and Aviemore was blocked as was the railway line at Dalwhinnie. This was due to torrential warm rain which melted all the gorgeous snow from from the mountains (where we had been climbing two days previously!) and put all streams into full spate. Spoilt our climbing but provided super views.
Beat wishes everyone.
Great composition and lighting George, super shot.
Great image George of these barracks which have so many Jacobite connections. The lighting is super, well done. Click.
Lovely sidelight and shadow George, well done.
