I went out last night again doing some night shots. Met a bunch a Street Pastors. They were a superb friendly bunch of people and we got chatting. Apparently their task at night is to help people who are out on the streets in Portsmouth. I asked in what way, thinking it was some cloke and dagger bible bashing. But she said ‘Well, we help clean the sick of them’

Isn’t is sad that our young people get so drunk that the church send out these good Samaritans to clean them up along the way. Those they don’t clean up the police arrest I suppose.

We were only out from about 10.00pm till midnight, but the young kids were yipping really.

Oh and this is the first time with my new lens. I bought a Nikor 50mm f1.4. Just getting used to it. I used it here without a flash at about 11.00pm not bad heh?

Thanks for all your comments

Well this is a really lovely natural portrait nicely captured. What a great lens. With such a shallow DOF the AF seems more focused on the scarf rather than her eyes. I don't think it spoils this great shot though.
Or is is it simply movement versus exposure time in the available light. I'm no expert. It's just my humble observation as you mentioned that you are getting used to the lens. Just wish I could capture people looking this natural.
Cheers, Ken.

A lens I would like to use-- perhaps own, As to the street pastors, perhaps it is for them better to out helping than to be out .......

A superb image of a lovely gal!

Cor, thanks everyone....
and * Ken (KPW) thanks for the detailed feedback, yes you are right, the scarf is more in focus, but it was a grab shot. I can see I am going to have a lot of fun getting used to this lens though.
thanks all for the nice comments on the girl and the work she does too

thanks for the new mod nikon although I quite like the street lighting myself as she works on the street and felt that needed to stay, thanks for taking the time to mod though.
