It's a juvenile gull. I sometimes think that the youngsters must get a horrible shock as autumn approaches and the holiday-makers disappear. They suddenly discover that food doesn't necessarily come ready prepared and served up to them...

Coming back again (because I do love this) - aren't those blurred little figures on the beach important. They complete the upward diagonal, ground it. Serendipity.
